This is the sort of disaster where as a developer you suck it up and pay the O/T or bonuses necessary to get the problem solved. From the description of the problem, there exist several temporary solutions that will at least buy them enough time to get the next game out, and that won't be terribly difficult to code.

If they've been laundered properly/well, they're probably everywhere, and ArenaNet can't do a thing about them, actually.

Yeah, but then they'd trade their armbraces for tormented weapons and sell them off.

If they have been 'laundered' and are going around GW, where are they?
In your and my inventory, I'm afraid. The problem is that bad. Even our own bags may be harboring these weapons of mass economic destruction.

One person sells their rare Mini for (A). They trade a some (A) for some (B). Maybe some (C) or (D) here and there. Laundered.

Wait. If we get caught laundering money, we're not going to white collar resort prison.

That's right. You're going to straight to federal pound me in the ass prison.

Well anyway. My hats off to Anet for this one, just when I thought it couldn't get any worse after the favor change. I certainly hope they learn from their mistakes in GW.

This is amazing, I would cut off my right nut just to get one armbrace or a tormented weapon, and there are people that have hundreds. Some of us will probably never hold an armbrace or a tormented weapon. I suppose its like comparing Bill Gates to Joe Schmoe who works at McDonalds.

Well I have to give it to them though. If you're gonna get greedy and do it out in the open, at least do it during an event so you know they won't roll things back. They may be asshats but they're smart asshats. They may not have made enough in the weeks leading up to this. Right now is the perfect time to just go all out.

After reading about the way that items are duped, about how it involves the reconnect feature, and that this could've been going on for months, that gold sellers could've duped an infinite number of any item they want, I believe I can sum of the thought that is in everyone's mind in three words:

Holy.
RED ENGINEing.
Shit.

>Gold sellers crit 9 million billion on Guild Wars.
>Guild Wars dies.

...At least the most vital things in Guild Wars are the cheapest. For that I am thankful...But still-

DAYAM!

It was probably sheer coincidence that it happened to coincide with an event.

to be fair, the worst that will happen is torment weapons will become worthless...

(shiny, but worthless)

and life will go on otherwise

(and hopefully I can get some shinies myself)

There's a good chance none of this [at all] is real. I find it amusing how much you people are flipping.

1 month ago a topic came up about how a few players were seen advertising that they wanted to sell something like 50-60 armbraces. I pointed out at the time that it just so happened right after someone posted a topic about item duping that quickly got deleted.
I'm not surprised there are several people who have 1000 armbraces now, if that dupe topic had any ounce of truth to it.

don't give them too much credit lol someone offered over 1000 armbraces for an item and didn't think that would get too much attention. if whoever these people were "smart," we would never know an exploit even existed.

That would be even funnier than if it was real and ruined the market.

Thanks to all of you who have helped us with information about the matter. Don't worry -- there are a lot of threads and you may not see me in any particular one but we are and have been keenly aware of the concerns here, and the designers are looking into this matter right now.

If you have specific information you want to share about this matter, you can send me a PM or email [email protected].

Thanks.

Anyone remember the D2 trading community? Yeah, the armbraces might just replace gold as the currency.
